Dog of Conscience (Part 1)

Note: In the following, the character of "John" appears to speak. This is obviously a creative liberty I have taken to further the story, as the real John has not spoken to anyone since 1985, when he was briefly on fire.

I was asked, during its writing, if the following is "true", or "based at all in fact".

"True" is such a strong word. Rather than say that it is based in "fact", I much prefer the term, "Genuine Factique".

A couple of weeks later, John surprised everyone by being in front of his computer.

"It's hot in here," I said, walking into the office. "You want the ceiling fan on?"

"Yeah. But just set it to zephyr, not scirocco," he said.

"Nice usage. I hate our dumb cats."

John brightened up. "You too? I was wondering."
